ACQUISITIONS

 

FLAG has assisted in the purchase of many interesting items SINCE 1967.

1)  1968 - Cut glass claret jug (1915)

'Baddesley Clinton' a watercolour painting by Mary Wadham (1916-1990)

'Untitled Portrait of a Lady' a miniature by Reginald Easton (1807 - 1893)

2)  1999/2000 - A contribution of £5,000 was made towards the water feature in the foyer of the Pump Rooms. The word "FRIENDS" which is imprinted in the stone, refers to FLAG.

3)  2002 - To mark the Golden Jubilee of H.M. Queen Elizabeth, the Friends purchased an oil painting entitled BLACK SNOW by the eminent local artist HARRY WEINBERGER at a cost of £5,500.

4) The Friend's made a donation of £1,500 towards the cost of purchase of an oil painting of WARWICK CASTLE by RICHARD BANKS HARRADEN.

5)  2006/7 - The Gallery held an exhibition by PHILIP SUTTON RA of WOODCUTS 1962-1976. FLAG sponsored the preview evening. At the 2007 AGM,  members voted to contribute £2,000 towards 'Magnificent' by Philip Sutton, which the Gallery wanted to acquire.

CONSERVATION AND RESTORATION

 

1)  In 1990 - Restoration of an important 17th C painting 'Boy with a Spear' by Nicholas Maer (1632 - 1693)

2)  In 2004 - The Friends paid for the restoration of a portrait of Dr AMOS MIDDLETON. This cost £1,750

3)  In 2005 - Flag gave £200 for restoration of 1930's ball gown.

4)  From 2005 -  Flag have been supporting the conservation work that NADFAS Heritage Volunteers are doing at the Gallery, by donations towards the cost of materials.

5) In 2007- We gave £500 for conservation work on the picture by Dod Proctor, "An Innocent or a New Day".
